About Larry

Larry has always had a love for art and animals. While Larry was in high school and college, he focused his art on portraits, doing pieces of both President Kennedy and astronaut John Glenn, receiving letters from both. In 1983 Larry, after encouragement from friends, entered the South Carolina Duck Stamp competition, in which he placed fifth. This was the beginning of Larry's wildlife art career. He was named South Carolina Wildlife Federation Artist of the Year in 1986 and continued to paint mostly North American wildlife, but after two trips to Kenya, Larry has displayed his love for this continents wildlife in his paintings.

Larry works in both gouache and graphite and strives to get as much realism in each piece as he possibly can. Larry's biggest influence is the art of both Robert Bateman and Carl Brenders, with both of whom he has spent time. Limited edition giclees are available of Larry's paintings which he continues to produce.
