Celebrating Wildlife Art & the Sporting Life

Avid bird conservationist, Chris Maynard, will be showcasing his unique art form of intricately carved feathers during the 34th annual SEWE. To create his shadowboxed feathers, Maynard tediously works with three necessities – eye surgery scissors, forceps, and magnifying glasses. The feathers used are collected from aviaries after natural molting, with no harm to the bird. In fact, many of the owners of the feathers in the art are still alive and well.

Learn more about Chris Maynard and see his artwork here.  And if you want to see his work in action, check out his display in the Grand Hall of the Charleston Place Ballroom, February 12 – 14.
